This pocket watch is enhanced with a pewter disc featuring the Harp emblem encircled with a Celtic knot design.  The Harp – the official national emblem of Ireland almost as popular as the shamrock dates back in Irish history to the 8th century and can be found in manuscripts and on Christian crosses. The harp is also strongly associated with Irish music. From as early as 1641 the Harp featured on the center of our national flag up until 1916 and then in 1922 the Tricolour became our national flag.  The harp features on the back of all the Irish Euro coins.

Galway by Richard Joyce back in the year 1689. The design is often used for wedding rings as it is based on the ring that Richard made for his bride to be. The symbolisms are “hands for friendship”, “heart for love” and “crown for loyalty”.

The design on this watch is that of entwined  birds. These long beaked birds could be that of cranes wrapped around each other and twisted through celtic lace pattern. Animals were often used by the monks to depict certain events and represented saints and angels.

This pocket watch is enhanced with a pewter Celtic design. In ancient times the hound/dog were seen as a symbol of hunting, healing and bravery they were often given as gifts to royalty and warriors. Drawings of hounds are to be found in Kells manuscript and were still used on paintings dating as late as the 17th century. Here the Hounds are entwined to form a triskele.

The Ha’penny Bridge is a cast iron bridge that crosses the river Liffey in the centre of Dublin.  It is known as the Ha’penny bridge because it once cost a halfpenny to cross the bridge.  It was erected in 1816.

The watch is finished off with a pewter disc with the map of Scotland.  Scotland has a long history with Ireland. Many Irish emigrated to Scotland as it was so close to the north of the country and many of their traditions are similar to the Irish from music to dance and also the Gaelic language.
